After two usages, this product has been consigned to a drawer with other flawed and useless items that looked quite good in the ads, but just do not work as anticipated.
If you don’t use one hand on the aereator and one on the wine bottle there is a probably that the gizmo will fall out, or at best, drip on the table. The top does not fit securily. I would never try it again, and consider it not even worth the trouble to return. I find it best to let wine breathe the old fashioned way. Honestly, I was not able to tell the difference when doing a blind taste test.

Caveat Emptor, the clear plastic ‘cup’ easily comes loose, turning your pelican like pourer in to a vino sprinkler. RIP table cloth. I like the in the bottle concept but this is cheaply made. The exterior IS metal, but is all plastic that the wine touches, and I don’t want any flavor from it imparted on my wine (-just like reviewers have said of the Vinturi).
Thought this was a gadget and after all, who doesn’t like gadgets. Turns out to be more. Blind taste tests confirm wine (red, at different price points) poured through the aerator is judeged better tasting. Go figure.
Makes a great gift for those who like wine with meals but don’t want to buy expensive bottles on a daily basis.
The wine aerating pourer is a device that lets flow wine over a larger surface under the inclusion of air. This way the wine is aerated instantly, to the same effect then pouring it in a caraffe and let it stand for an hour. The different taste compared to direct pouring is detectable even for an untrained tongue. The wine gets instantly more mellow and balanced, especially if the tannin content is high.
The device consists of two pieces which can be easily detached and cleaned and fits all wine bottles. It does not replace a caraffe for festive occasions but as an instant improvement for the casual bottle of wine it is an excellent idea.
