Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Linksys WRT54GL Wireless-G Broadband Router combines the functionalities of three devices into a single device, a wireless access point, a four-port full-duplex 10/100 Mbps switch and a router. The wireless access point lets you connect Wireless-G or Wireless-B devices to the network while the switch connects your wired-Ethernet devices together. The router function ties it all together by letting your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. The push button setup feature makes it easy to configure your wireless devices. The router serves as a DHCP server, includes an SPI firewall to protect against Internet intruders and also supports VPN pass-through. The WRT54GL even features TKIP and AES to protect your data and privacy with up to 128-bit encryption. With the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers and multi-player games with flexibility, speed, security and simplicity. 5 out of 5 stars Great router when flashed with DD-WRT   January 6, 2009
By itself the Linksys WRT54GL is a very capable Wireless router, and will more than satisfy the average consumer. For enthusiasts, the open source firmware DD-WRT (http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_WRT54G/GL/GS/GX) turns a $60 router into a device that can compete with $600 models available from Cisco (Linksys' parent company). With DD-WRT, boosting or lowering the gain on the wireless antennas is a snap, making it easy to extend / reduce your coverage range. Likewise, security options and bandwidth monitoring available in DD-WRT far outweigh the stock firmware options. Have an Xbox, PS2/3, Wii that you want to connect to your wireless network? New HDTV that has an Ethernet port? Buy a 2nd WRT54GL and with DD-WRT you can turn it into a wireless client bridge and hook up all of your consoles / HDTVs for a fraction of the cost of buying individual wireless adapters for each.

5 out of 5 stars Great Wireless Router   January 2, 2009
I've been using this router for more than a month now without a single problem. The signal is strong anywhere in the house (3000 sq.ft.)and it seems just as fast as the direct cable modem connection.br /br /There's one drawback for Mac users like me. The set-up wizard CD doesn't work with Mac OS X. I had to call Linksys tech support. The Tech was very helpful, knowledgeable and kind, walking me through the set-up procedure step by step which took maybe 10 minutes or so. br /br /I decided to buy this router by reading the numerous online reviews and watching some video reviews, while keeping cost comparisons in mind. I feel that this router is a great value and from what I've been hearing from my computer "techie" friends, Linksys has a reputation for making quality products.

After a long time using this router, I finally found out why the connection keeps falling.... br /My cordless phone works in the same frequency (2,4ghz) as the router, they can't work together... so everytime the phone is used, I loose my wireless internet connection... br /

Since I didn't know anything about installing a wireless router, I waited for my family on Thanksgiving for help. With the help of family, the installation took us no longer than 20 minutes. No problems either.

5 out of 5 stars My first and only router   December 21, 2008

I bought this router two years back and NEVER had to reset the router even once!! Never had a disconnection and this in spite of being a heavy user (over 10G/month of internet usage) of the internet.br /br /I will never use any other router in my life. I don't know when this router will fail but when it does, will no doubt buy another WRT54GL.br /br /
