Product Description
From the makers of the popular Rabbit Corkscrew comes the Sterling Rabbit Vacuum Pump, ready to save your open wine bottles from oxidizing into vinegar. The award-winning tool is easy to use, with powerful leverage that allows you to quickly pump the air out of any-sized bottle, vacuum sealing it. Simply insert one of the rubber stoppers into the bottle opening, cover with the polished silver pump, push the lever 4 times and you're done. Includes 2 reusable push-button stoppers. Amazon.com Review
Designed in similar fashion to the Rabbit corkscrew, the Rabbit vacuum pump features arms that provide excellent leverage when pumping the air out of a partially-consumed bottle of wine. By removing the air, the wine is preserved for several days or more until it can be further enjoyed. This particular vacuum model, the Sterling, features a die-cast metal upper lever for superior strength and is completely finished in brightly polished chrome. The Rabbit Lever Vacuum Pump was selected by Fortune Magazine as one of the 25 best new products of 2003, and won an award in 2004 from the International Housewares Association. Metrokane includes two push-button stoppers with the pump in a clear bubble package. p To use the Rabbit pump, first insert one of the stoppers firmly and completely into the bottle mouth. Next, place the vacuum pump on the stopper, grip the two side levers in one hand and pump the top lever repeatedly with the other hand until the air from the bottle is removed. When you're ready to drink the wine again, simply push the button on top of the stopper and the vacuum is released. Another nifty advantage of the Metrokane stopper is that no leaks occur when a bottle is stored horizontally. The Rabbit vacuum pump is also available in a less-expensive velvety matte black or brushed silver finish, both with polished chrome accents. I--Ann Bieri/I

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for red wine lovers who live alone!   March 21, 2008
Although this shows the Sterling vacuum pump, I actually have the black, plastic pump and it is great! I have always enjoyed a nice glass of red wine with many of the meals I prepare at home. Until now, because I live alone, I had two choices: 1) open a bottle, have a glass and forfeit the remainder since it would get cloudy and lose it's taste or 2) forego the pleasure of a glass of wine with my meal. Now that I have the vacuum and stoppers, the problem is solved. An opened bottle of wine can last for up to a month or more! I highly recommend this item.
