Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
All you have to do is push down on the lever, pull it up, and like magic the corkscrew is out. The Houdini Lever-Style Corkscrew can pull a cork from any size bottle in seconds, and without so much as an abracadabra, it automatically releases the cork, too. Tested for 20,000 pulls, this tool is made to last through a lifetime of dinner parties, but includes an extra spiral screw just in case. Gift set features a handy foil cutter that easily removes the foil cap. All-metal gears, soft-grip handles and shiny enameled finish. Imported.

2 out of 5 stars There are better versions of the rabbit wine opener   January 4, 2009
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

Let me start by saying that I love rabbit style wine openers. They are the best type for opening and getting the cork off of the corkscrew. This Houdini brand one is not good. It is cheap plastic mostly, with metal for the linear rail and gears. I got one from Christmas 2008 and it broke after the first use.br /br /I had one like thisbr /RABBIT HEAVY DUTY CORKSCREW - 4 PC. RABBIT HEAVY DUTY CORKSCREW SETbr /for years. I think I am going to buy that one or one like it as a replacement. It is not branded, but it looks like the one I used to have which was all metal construction.

5 out of 5 stars wine opener   December 27, 2008
Thank You Metrokane Houdini:Finally found a opener that really opens our wine with out tearing the cork all to pieces and ending up in the bottle. Would consider giving this product as a gift Purchased a very expensive one from a leading retail store only to have it break within the year called the company and they said it was not guaranteed by them to call the mfg I did call and received the same answer, So needless to say I would never purchase an expensive wine opener again, this one I purchased from you guys even works better Thanks again, a wine lover in FL

5 out of 5 stars Very Cool!   October 19, 2008

Very easy to use, and doesn't break the cork. Maybe I've bought my last corkscrew for myself. Definately a great gift idea.

4 out of 5 stars Houdini corkscrew   July 7, 2008
Solid product; very easy to use. My only problem thus far, has been with removing the cork from the corkscrew. Nonetheless, compared with other corkscrews, this one is excellent!

5 out of 5 stars Newer 2008 Models Much Improved: Great Opener!   June 27, 2008
5 out of 5 found this review helpful

I was really surprised at all the negative or lukewarm reviews until I looked at the dates: these are mostly from 2002-2003, and the most recent one I saw was 2004. Half a decade later, the Houdini is MUCH improved. Mine is a champ, and opens every bottle flawlessly and quickly. I drink wine EVERY DAY, so it has to work continuously, and it does. While some five-year old reviews talk of wobblies or weak joints, this is no longer true. The 2008 Houdini is solid! It also now comes with it's own case (rubber handle retainer included), so you don't have to worry about storage issues. I'm a hard-core wine aficionado, and this is a superb opener. I can't think of any way they could improve it.
